Key takeaways:
This week at Automatica 2025, we’re sharing how Intrinsic is bringing new value to solution builders, and the real business impact AI can deliver for their customers in manufacturing. We’re demonstrating new solutions for the optical inspection and CNC markets that have been built with Intrinsic — combining the power of Intrinsic Flowstate, our intelligent capabilities like AI-powered perception and motion planning, and IntrinsicOS. While some of these solutions may look familiar on the surface, the way they operationalize AI in productized, scalable ways will shift the economics of system integration and the economies of production for manufacturers in the future. We’re also sharing new milestones in our AI efforts for developers with our latest foundation model for pose estimation, building on our longstanding collaboration with Google DeepMind.
Optical Inspection: autonomous, adaptive robotics for high-mix part inspection
NEWSTON Automated Solutions provides high-precision solutions to automotive manufacturers, covering a range of tasks and use cases. Bürkert Fluid Control Systems is a customer of NEWSTON that manufactures more than 130,000 different products in a variety of shapes and sizes — with many of them being one of a kind. Building with Intrinsic, NEWSTON delivered an intelligent, AI-enabled robotics solution to help Bürkert’s team automate a precise but traditionally time-consuming quality control inspection process which involves individually scanning each product by hand, with a speciality scanner. Robot-guided optical inspection is a fully automated process where robots with mounted sensors move around parts to scan specific areas for quality measurements. The Bürkert team and machine operators won’t need to worry about AI, machine vision or programming robots because the solution adapts to each part’s position, and completes the task autonomously.
“With Intrinsic, we finally have a door opener that makes it easy for our customers to utilize our measurement system,” said Gernot Sattelmayer, Head of Applications at NEWSTON. “Traditionally, automation needed a fixed robot program, but we can now bring parts in with the robot programming done by AI, which ultimately opens up entirely new kinds of solutions for customers like Bürkert.”
“The high variance and degree of precision required to manufacture our products has made it difficult for us to turn to automation processes," said Dr. Anne März, Head of Digital Toolchain at Bürkert Fluid Control Systems. “But the power and versatility of AI-enabled robotics that we’re seeing from Intrinsic is already making the work of our employees much easier and faster."
Automatica attendees can experience this solution live at the NEWSTON booth on the show floor.

Bringing AI to the CNC markets
In the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine market, we recently announced a collaboration with Trinity Robotics Automation as they work to bring flexible CNC solutions to the U.S. market, which includes roughly 20,000 machine shops and fabricators.
At Automatica, our centerpiece Intrinsic solution is an intelligent CNC machine tending solution, built by MartinSystems, a leading automation provider to the machine tool industry in Germany. The solution uses Flowstate, leveraging our AI-enabled perception for detecting aluminum raw stock and our automated motion and grasp planning capabilities to automate the process of picking and placing parts. This solution demonstrates how easily a machine operator can manage the process, change jobs, and introduce parts using a simple interface – all without custom fixtures, robot programming, or complex training necessary.
"We're excited to be working with the team at Intrinsic to bring robotics and high mix production to our customers with machine tending operations,” said Claus Martin, CEO and Founder of MartinSystems GmbH. “While the need for adaptive and easy-to-use robotics systems has long existed, our new AI-powered CNC workpiece handling systems finally offer the technical capability and economic viability to fulfill this demand. We're excited to bring this new generation to the market."

Faster development with foundation model for pose estimation
Last year at Automate, we shared an early look at Intrinsic’s foundation model for pose estimation — a model that can perform “one shot” object and pose detection for a variety of objects. This means that unlike previous AI models, this new foundation model can be “prompted” with any CAD model, then detect it and find its pose in the scene. No training is required to adapt to different parts, environments, and lighting conditions. This work was originally based on OWL-ViT, and is part of our longstanding collaboration with Google DeepMind. Today, we’re sharing that a higher performance version of our perception model is being integrated directly into Flowstate for quick and easy developer access - it will also be showcased at Automatica in our booth.
Developed by Intrinsic for industrial use cases in manufacturing and pre-trained exclusively with synthetic data from millions of object instances, this model can generalize across many different objects and materials, from aluminum raw stock to machined parts or metal valves. It can automatically deal with environmental variables, such as different cameras, lighting conditions, and orientations. In Flowstate, this and future foundation models for everything from perception to motion and grasp planning, will be usable in sim and real with just a few clicks - and without the need for deep expertise in the areas of machine vision or robotics. These models don’t require additional training or training costs and can be used in minutes for industrial grade applications. We’re excited to continue working with the DeepMind team and pioneering industry customers looking for the most valuable AI to deploy and operate.

Beyond Automatica
Pioneering customers and partners like NEWSTON, Bürkert, Trinity, MartinSystems, and other RoX collaborators like SOTEC and Roboception are representing the forefront of productizing AI in practical, scalable ways. The solutions we're now enabling across the industry with them are beginning to drive real business impact.
Building with the Intrinsic platform means building with Intrinsic Intelligence — leveraging our digital twin developer environment, ready-to-use AI-enabled capabilities, and AI-integrated infrastructure for production and operations. We support automation providers and system integrators who want to actualize the real value of AI in measurable, high-impact ways that scale for their customers. We hope you’ll visit our booth, meet our team and discuss what AI could mean for you and your customers.
If you’ll also be at Automatica 2025 in Munich, please join us at our booth to talk about your AI and automation (Hall B4, Stand 310). Intrinsic executives will be delivering keynotes and participating in panel discussions, and we’re hosting booth talks throughout the week alongside NVIDIA, RoX, and other industry experts. Visit our Automatica events page to learn more, and we’ll look forward to seeing you there!
